Endorsement 3

The product that I would choose to endorse for the third day of presentations would be the College Hits CD. I thought this was a great fresh approach to a similar outdated idea (NOW CD's) and could definitely see it being a success.  I think it is very wise to sell this on iTunes as well as a CD because with this generation a lot more profit will be gained via the internet because it is so easily accessible.  I also liked how this idea was so well organized and thought out because I can trust that my money will be put to good use and that the product wilo be well though out.
What sealed the deal for me endorsing this product was how it was designed. The design had a mass appeal  and was very eye pleasing as well as unique. I have faith in someone who is so creative and could tell that he really knew what he was doing. Finally, the only thing that I would suggest if I was an investor would be to somehow get some of the singers of the CD to advertise it themselves and possibly have a concert. Also because it is on i Tunes I would suggest coming out with a new play list every month or so.

Indorsement #2

The product that I would choose to indorse from the second day of the presentations would first be my own :) but I’m sure if you can choose your own so I would then choose the Family Book. I like the concept for this book a lot because everyone has some type of family whether conventional or not. Personally, I would make the book available in different volumes that would specify to a wide range of different types of families. By doing this you would reach a wider audience and generate a greater profit.
Overall, Melissa’s presentation was very professional and well organized and that makes me have faith in her ability to succeed. The book also had a well though out layout, its chapters included great topics and I could see a lot of families being interested in it. I would invest because I believe that I would make a profit with this product.

Indorsement #1

The product that I would choose to indorse from the first day of the presentations would be the Nutrifier. I would indorse this product because I believe it is a really great inventive idea that I could see being very beneficial as well as becoming very popular. Also I though this idea was one of the most creative as well as both simple and practical. In the future when I have children I could definitely see my self buying this product and using as an easy way to get them the nutrients they need. I also believe that it would be a good idea to make it so you could give medicine through the Nutrifier as well. The concept of being able to give your child things that they needed, that weren’t always the easiest to give would be a dream for mothers, but of course the product would have to be tested first with really babies.
The outlet of media that I would choose to advertise this product through would be parenting magazines, doctors offices, and on a television news segment. Overall I think his idea for the Nutrifier is a really great one and I would proud to be behind it.

Cinematheque Review- Erin Brockovich

The Cinematheque showing that I choose to critique for the experiential component is Erin Brockovich, a film that came out on March 17, 2000 that stars Julia Roberts and is based on a true story. I have seen this movie a handful of times and find it to be very inspiring, the fact that it is based on a true story always makes a film better to me because it is intriguing and genuine. Personally, I love this movie and feel that it represents woman empowerment, but it is also more than that because it deals with important real world issues that we all should know about. The film is both educational, and heart retching, I truly recommend seeing it.
The movie was produced by Danny DeVito, Michael Shamberg, and Stacey Sher; co-produced by Gail Lyon; and the executive producers were John Hardy and Carla Santos Shamberg. The director of the film was Steven Soderbergh and written by Susannah Grant. The film is considered a combination of biography, drama, and romance, is rated R for language, and is 130 minutes long. The budget for Erin Brockovich was about $52,000.000, definitely a big budget film. Opening weekend in grossed $28,138,465, it then played in theaters until August 6, 2010 and grossed a total of $125,548,685.
The plot of the movie is as follows. Erin Brockovich, played by Julia Roberts, is an unemployed single mother of three who is desperate to find a job, but isn’t having the best luck. After getting in a car accident Erin gets a lawyer and files a lawsuit, but when she gets nothing and is even more desperate she asks her lawyer to give her a job in compensation for the losses, and after persistent determination he concedes. However, no one at the office takes her seriously because of the revealing trashy clothing and manners, but as the movie goes on and Erin begins to investigate a suspicious real estate case involving the Pacific Gas & Electric Company this begins to change. What she eventually discovers is that the company is trying to quietly buy land that is contaminated by a deadly toxic waste that the company is improperly and illegally dumping which is in turn, poisoning the residents in the surrounding area. As the case grows and more is revealed Erin becomes the key component in involving her law firm in one of the biggest class action lawsuits in American history against a multi-billion dollar corporation. Erin is very determined and a hard worker, but it is still hard to balance a full time demanding job with three kids and a boyfriend. It is a bit of a bumpy road for Erin for awhile. In the end Erin and her boss, lawyer Ed Masry win the case and are able to help the families that were affected. Erin continues to work at the law firm and is able to support her family.
Erin is the protagonist in the film and the antagonist in the company that she is investigating, Pacific Gas & Electric Company. As far as the shots and angles go for this film Erin wears very revealing clothing so sometime the angles accentuate that, but overall the camera angles, I found to be, very typical of a drama they change a lot to empathies certain moments and emotions. From the beginning to the end of the film Erin definitely changes in some ways, but in others she says the same. I would say that she became more manure refined and self confident; she gained a lot of respect from her colleagues as well. However, Erin didn’t change the qualities that helped her to win the case which was her compassion to help others, her determination, and her strength. Erin is a great role model and example of someone who went from nothing to something. In real life  Erin  has now been in the law field for 19 years and is continuing to make a difference in the lives of many.

Memento

Memento, I love this movie. This was not the first time I have seen the film, my first time was my senior year in high school in my physiology class. We watched the movie in order to analyses Leonard's disorder because we were learning abut mental illnesses of the mind and Leonard is a perfect example of this.
After I saw the movie the first time I was definitely confused so I got the movie and now own it. I  have since watched the movie a handful of times in order to better understand the film. Overall what I have discovered is that there is no correct way to view this movie, it is open to interpretation. Christopher Nolan has a brilliant imagination and ability to tell complex mind boggling stories, I enjoy all his films like this such as Inception. Movies to me that make you think and leave you thinking when their over are one of the best kind because I enjoy being challenged  sometimes and not having the plot be so obvious.
Furthermore, my take on the movie has developed more and more each time i see the film because I am always finding more details and things to consider. So far what I have personally decided is that Leonard and his wife were really the couple portrayed as Sammy and his wife. Leonard dose not like to remember this though so he destroyed the part in the police report that stated it. He also does not like to remember that the reason his wife died was because he gave her insulin too many times, instead he chooses to remember her murdered in their bathroom. This allows him to continue his wild chase to find her killer and remain "happy". However, this is not a real happiness and eventually its going to destroy him. I also believe that Natalie was using and messing with Leonard the whole time. As for Teddy I believe that he was a corrupt cop who was using Leonard to his own advantage, but he was his only true ally in the film. Despite that fact the Teddy was not an honest good guy he was the only one who really new Leonard's story, he tried to keep him out of harms way unless it was to his benefit, he dose try to tell him the truth.
Christopher Nolan ultimately  creates a brilliant story with an unconventional plot. it is a great idea to do a movie this way very unique and i admire him for being different and not following the norm.

Final Project:Product Proposal

For my final project the product I have chosen to create is A Guide to Great Eco-Friendly Finds. The media outlet I will use is in the form of book as well as possibly a website. My target market is going to be for all ages because I will devote a section in the book to each age group: babies, children, teenagers, young adults, adults, and elderly. I will do this in order to reach a wide market, and so that the green movement and eco-friendly products will attract all generations. In addition, I want to be able to reach all audiences because the green movement is such a positive direction to head in and everyone should being making the switch. Sometimes it is hard to know where to start with going green and it can be overwhelming so what I hope to do is ease people into it and make the transition smooth.
My book will start off with an introduction to going green, what it is about, why you should make the change, as well as an overall overview of the movement and book. As the chapters move on from there I will offer different themes for each one. For example, I will have chapters on different green websites, organizations, companies, products, establishments, and restaurants just to name few. These chapters will include in depth detail on these topics with illustration and graphics as well as reviews.
Overall, I am very passionate about the green movement and feel very strongly about everyone moving in this direction to insure a better future. In my book I hope to convince and show others that this is the way as well, and give them the stepping stones to transition with excitement and ease.

BBC vs. Fox- NPR fires Juan Williams

For this assignment I choose to analyze BBC, a British News Station that is know for being un-bias and Fox News, a station that is know for being bias. More specifically I choose to look at the online websites of these two news sources. The story that I choose to analysis was the firing of NPR employ Juan Williams after he made an appearance on the O’Reilly factor with the ever controversial Bill O’Reilly. I am taking a Media Literacy class as well this semester, and I have been shocked to discover how swayed and manipulated some news resources truly are. As a result of finding this out it made me want to compare two opposites to see the real specific differences.
First I looked at the BBC article and found that the story was very factual and straight forward, they told what happened and didn’t offer any personal opinions or twists. I admire this about any outlet of news because I want to told what happened, I want the facts and the truth so that I don’t feel like I am being lied to or have to dig further to discover the real story. This article had no fluff, I was merely informed about what happened by a creditable news source with a good reputation. Lately I have been tuning to BBC for the majority of my news information, or PBS because I know I will get un-bias information. In BBC’s article on Juan Williams they provided quotes for backup for NPR about the firing as well as from Juan to know exactly what was said to cause the firing.
Next, I went over to the Fox website and began to read their article, and in the beginning it did closely resemble the BBC story with the quote about what Juan said and how NPR released a statement. However, the story was longer than the BBC one and that gave me a clue that I was going to see some more gossip like news about the situation, and not just facts, and I was right. The Fox article definitely swayed more towards the gossipy side offering opinions and swayed comments. In addition, this story hits close to home for them because Bill O’Reilly is in fact an employ of Fox so they had something to say about that as well. Bill O’Reilly being extremely controversial and right winged himself found no problem with Juan’s comment “I mean, look, Bill, I'm not a bigot. You know the kind of books I've written about the civil rights movement in this country. But when I get on the plane, I got to tell you, if I see people who are in Muslim garb and I think, you know, they are identifying themselves first and foremost as Muslims, I get worried. I get nervous,”. However, this comment is not appropriate and that is why he was let go from NPR, he swayed from their standards and image, and I agree with their reaction.
Overall, I found it very interesting to actually critique two versions of the same news occurrence and I learned a lot.
